As a ditzy astronaut you're lost. You have to share an outer space with strange creatures and solve surprising puzzles to get to safety. This was our second game project and our first mobile game, with Monument Valley as a key reference. In this project, I explored character concepts and was responsible for rigging and animating the player character.

Exploration

Maya + Photoshop

Early in the project, we explored different shapes and silhouettes for the character. Here are some examples from that phase. Through iteration, the design became more refined and aligned with the in-game camera and overall visual style.

Rigging

This was the first rig I created after completing my rigging course. I built a custom setup with IK legs and FK arms, along with additional FK controllers for the astronaut’s accessories.

Walk

Walk animation for our ditzy astronaut. He is taking big steps to imitate the floaty-ness in the space.

Cheer

Alert animation for our ditzy astronaut. Animation triggers when you approach a friend/enemy.

Cheering for getting till the end! This is a cheer animation that plays when you reach the end of an level.
